Part-Time Forklift Instructor

The position is not for a person looking for full-time or even regular part-time work.  It would be perfect for a retired professional with years of experience operating, training and supervising others on the safe operation of a forklift who would like to get out and about a few times per year.  It is scheduled on an "as needed" basis.

This position involves providing classroom and hands-on instruction to meet employers' CAL-OSHA forklift training and documentation.  Must hold a valid driver’s license, have reliable transportation, be willing to travel to locations within 20 miles of San Joaquin County.

Must be available for work on Wednesday mornings and other week days typically once or twice a month. Background in occupational safety and experience with additional equipment commonly found in the warehouse environment preferred.  Pre-employment background check, driving record check and drug screen will be conducted. Employer is a private, non-profit organization.

Qualifications:

  • 21 years of age or older.
  • AA or higher or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. with regularity.
  • No conflicts of interest.
  • Experience with public speaking and experience as a trainer/instructor.
  • Professional appearance and manner.
  • Ability to speak English with proper pronunciation, using correct grammar and enunciation.
  • Strong vocabulary skills.
  • Excellent memory skills and ability to learn new information quickly.
  • High comfort level with classroom technology including computers and interactive Smartboard.
  • Able and willing to follow administrative procedures.
  • No DUIs or other alcohol/drug violations within 10 years.
  • Valid California Driver's License

Requirements:

  • Abide by all federal, state and county requirements for specified programs.
  • Provide a high-energy, interactive, educational experience for the clients
  • Remain calm, positive and professional while dealing with challenging clients.
  • Follow the proscribed session materials and group topics.
  • Must be punctual and dependable.
  • Must have dependable transportation for travel through-out San Joaquin and surrounding counties.
  • Maintain a well-groomed and professional appearance.
  • Ability to build a positive relationship with team members.
  • Be a positive off-duty reflection of the organization.
  • Other duties as required.

Compensation:  $25 - $30 per hour
